Trio Canna, a chamber ensemble from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, will perform the world premiere of "Suite" by Indiana State University faculty composer and department chairperson Nancy Cobb Lippens (Nancy Hill Cobb) on Thursday, Oct. 7.
The program will be held in the Recital Hall of the Center for Performing and Fine Arts at 7:30 p.m. "Suite," commissioned by Trio Canna, is cast in four movements titled "Lamentation Perpetual," "Wistful Waltz," "March Gone Awry" and "A Remedy in Tarantella."Other works on the program are "Quatre Miniatures" by Jacques Hétu, "Oclaba - Trio" by Frigyes Hidas, and "Divertissement" by Jean Françaix.
Trio Canna's members are Stacey Berk, oboe and English horn; Andrea Splittberger-Rosen, clarinet and bass clarinet; and Patricia Holland, bassoon and contrabassoon.
This recital marks the third in the visiting artist series for the 2010-2011 year. Patrons who wish to receive a brochure listing all faculty and guest artist recitals as well as large student ensemble concerts should call the department office at 237-2711.
