Faculty Artist Series features tuba professor

Glen Dimick, professor of music, will perform as part of the Faculty Artist Series along with pianist Martha Krasnican at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 in the Recital Hall of the Landini Center for Performing and Fine Arts building.

The program will present six works for solo tuba and piano. Dimick notes that a special feature of this recital is "the fact that only two pieces on the program are stolen from other instruments, possibly a record for a tuba recital." The two pieces that were stolen will be Antonio Vivaldi's "Winter" from "The Four Seasons" and Arthur Pryor's "Blue Bells of Scotland."

The piece entitled "Prelude" was composed by recent alum Josh Bedford whom is currently a graduate student at the University of Georgia will open the recital.

Dimick, a busy performer, is a substitute member of the Louisville Symphony, a recording musician in Indianapolis, and has played with groups such as the Madison Brass, Camerata Orchestra, and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Mirari Brass Quintet, a chamber ensemble dedicated to new music and the evolution of brass literature. Currently Dimick is principal tubist for the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic.
