Five students receive Indiana Society of Chicago scholarships

December 16, 2011

The Indiana Society of Chicago Foundation recently awarded scholarships to five Chicagoland students attending Indiana State University.

The scholarship recipients were recognized Dec. 3 during the society's 106th annual dinner, attended by more than 600 people at the Fairmont Hotel at Chicago's Millennium Park.

The society, founded more than 100 years ago by notable Hoosiers George Ade and John McCutcheon and others attracted to the Midwest's premiere city at the peak of the industrial revolution, pays homage to its roots each year by recognizing outstanding Indiana institutions and leaders in a high-spirited holiday season celebration.

The society recognizes outstanding Indiana institutions and this year's dinner honored Indiana State and saluted the city of Terre Haute.

Responding to a critical need for financial assistance to deserving students, the society formed a foundation in 1997 to provide scholarships to greater Chicago area men and women attending colleges and universities in Indiana. The generous contributions from members have allowed the society to award multiple scholarships each year.

This year's Indiana Society of Chicago Foundation scholarships are:
