The Indiana State University Foundation Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Jack Maynard to serve as the foundation's interim president. Maynard will remain provost and vice president of academic affairs for the university during his interim role with the foundation.
"The university is pleased to share Provost Maynard's skills and expertise with the ISU Foundation during this leadership transition. It is important to maintain the momentum the Foundation created with the successful completion of the March On! campaign and I am confident Jack will make that happen," said Daniel J. Bradley, president of the university.
"We are looking forward to Dr. Maynard joining the foundation team," said Brent Beeler, chair of the foundation board. "His leadership and administrative experience will support the foundation and be a consistent resource for the staff."
Maynard will begin serving in the interim leadership position Wednesday and will manage the day-to-day operations of the foundation during the organization's national presidential search process. "I am pleased and excited to serve the foundation and university in the interim role. The work of the foundation is absolutely critical in supporting the overall mission of the university," said Maynard. "I appreciate Dr. Bradley's and Mr. Beeler's confidence and look forward to working with the foundation staff and university staff over the next few months."
Maynard has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Indiana State since 2003. He previously served as dean of the ISU School of Education and as the founding dean of the School of Education and Human Services at the University of Michigan-Flint. He has also held key leadership positions at the University of Toledo and Marshall University. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's in educational administration from Marshall University and his doctorate in educational leadership at West Virginia University.
The foundation has established a presidential search committee to advance the leadership search. The group is working with the foundation board to engage a search firm to lead the process. The foundation expects to select a search firm by the end of the month.
