The Indiana State University School of Music Faculty Gala Recital will be Thursday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the University Hall Auditorium.
"It is a really good opportunity for the community to be able to see what a really outstanding program we have," said Nancy Cobb Lippens, chair of the School of Music.
The recital, in conjunction with the College of Arts and Sciences Community Semester, will feature nine performance faculty from the School of Music. There will be solo performances as well as duets and trios. The music performed will range from the romantic era to more contemporary works. Also, Prelude and Bacchanal (2003) by composition faculty member Dan Powers will be performed.
Other works will include Trio for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano by Aram Khatchaturian, It's a Raggy Waltz by Dave Brubeck, Just Around the Riverbend from Pocahontas by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, Sonata en ut# by Fernande Decruck, The Sycamore by Scott Joplin, and Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms.
