University police officers recognized for life-saving actions May 8, 2008 For the first time in its 20-year history, the W. Kevin Artz Outstanding Police Officer Award has been presented to officers with the Indiana State University Department of Public Safety. The Terre Haute Breakfast Optimist Club presented the award to Cpl. Ian Loomis and Officer David Glick in recognition of their quick actions that helped save the life of an ISU professor.
Student commencement speaker: Grads have mission to improve world May 3, 2008 After completing a bachelor's degree in social work at Indiana State, Brandon Skates has been accepted into law school. Describing how he overcame adversity and thanking ISU for giving him the opportunity to grow as a person, the Greencastle native told fellow graduates at spring commencement they have a mission to improve the world.
ISU grad makes Time magazine list of world's most influential people May 1, 2008 Terre Haute native Jill Bolte Taylor, who holds a Ph.D. in life sciences from Indiana State University, has been recognized by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Taylor recovered from a major stroke at age 37. She promotes brain donation for research and education.
