Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program

Commitment

For each year of scholarship award received, a Noyce Scholarship recipient must commit to teaching two years in a “high needs” school area. “High needs” schools can be found in pretty much every county in Indiana, except for Hamilton.

A Noyce Scholarship requires that recipients complete a teacher education program in science or mathematics education. The program also requires that recipients commit to teach for two (2) years for every one (1) year of received support in a “high need educational agency.” This means an educational agency that serves an elementary or secondary school located in an area in which there is:

Should Noyce Scholarship recipients choose to change my major, they recognize the scholarship will be revoked and that they will be required to repay Indiana State University and the NSF-Noyce Scholarship program the full amount of the scholarship awarded. Should they not meet the high needs teaching requirements or fail to fulfill the (at least) two (2) year obligation, they will be required to repay Indiana State University and the NSF-Noyce Scholarship program the full amount of the scholarship awarded or the appropriate prorated share based on the required obligation based on my actual high needs teaching experience. Finally, recipients recognize that should he/she be determined to be ineligible at any point (i.e., GPA, academic progress, less than full-time enrollment) during their studies the scholarship may be revoked—although repayment is not necessary.
