Worthy nursing student selected by the nursing faculty; To be used for tuition and books.
Wendy Titsworth has been an RN for 10 years.
She originally attended the University of Michigan –Flint for her
bachelor’s degree. She has mainly worked critical care ranging
from trauma to open heart recovery. Cardiology has always been her
true love outside of her family of course. She has a wonderful
husband and three children and one dog. They are a very active
family. They love camping, boating and outdoor activities.
Wendy and her husband have been married for 5 years and their son is 3,
their daughter is 2 and their last daughter is 8 months.
Her desire to obtain her masters degree began after the birth of her
first child. She really wanted to be more, for him, her family and
herself. She began at Ferris State University in the MSN program.
With only 2 semesters to complete she realized she wasn’t ready to give
up direct patient care. She knew she needed to complete a
practitioner program to be fulfilled and that is what led her to ISU
today. She is very happy with the program thus far and am very
appreciative of the scholarship. It helps her achieve her
educational goals with a little less stress on her shoulders. She
still loves education and supports as many nurses as she can to advance
their degrees as well as encourages younger people to give nursing a
chance.
After obtaining her master's degree with a major in nursing and a
concentration in FNP, she hopes to specialize in a cardiology specialty.
She has always enjoyed the care of heart patients and the supporting
education needed with this area. Her long term goal after
finishing her degree is to complete a DNP. She thinks this is an
important step to reinforce her education and experience in the nursing
field. She would love to expand her horizons at the university
level and possibly begin giving seminars with some other APN’s.
Maybe some that she has throughout this program!
