Adria Hardesty graduated in 2005 from Williston State College in Williston, North Dakota with a certificate in practical nursing. She worked in Long Term Care and psychiatry in North Dakota and Illinois prior to returning to school at Indiana State University for her bachelor’s degree. She is currently a senior in the BS Nursing program. Adria enjoys psychiatric nursing and her goal is to pursue a Master’s degree in nursing education with an emphasis in psychiatric nursing after graduating from ISU. She is especially interested in post-traumatic stress disorder rehabilitation and treatment and addiction studies. Adria has two young daughters who keep her focused. Currently, she is working at a rural clinic and hospital in western North Dakota. Lastly, Adria would like to thank everyone on the scholarship committee for choosing her for this award!

Dolores Hunter has been in the nursing field since 1980 and has had the opportunity to work in many areas of nursing;  Labor/Delivery, Community Health Nursing, Urgent Care and Occupational health. During these years, she was also busy raising her five children, taking care of her husband and all the crazy busyness that goes along with the job of homemaking. Finishing her bachelors degree has always been a desire of Dolores' but not until recently has she had the time or opportunity to carry out this goal. It was a daunting experience to go back to school after so many years and she is amazed at how well she is doing. The classes she has taken thus far have rounded out her nursing education well.  Dolores truly appreciates all that she is learning at ISU and being the one of the recipients of this scholarship.

Denise Johnston expresses her sincere gratitude to the donors of this scholarship and also to the scholarship committee.  Denise began her career in nursing over 15 years ago as a licensed practical nurse. Her clinical experience has been predominantly in an outpatient setting and has ranged from pediatric rehabilitation to cardiology. Her primary areas of focus over the past several years include pacemaker/device management and evaluation and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. She has also enjoyed working with patients in the heart failure clinic. Denise lives in St. Marys, Georgia and is grateful for the unique opportunity to complete her degree through the distance education program. She plans to graduate with a BS with a major in nursing in Spring 2012 and would like to continue on with a graduate degree focusing on nursing education.   She is very appreciative of the generosity of the donors, and hopes someday to do the same for others who want to further their nursing education.

Carla Rosselot started her nursing career in 2004 as an LPN specializing in geri psych.  She has also worked med surg, ICU and long term care.  In 2009 Carla graduated with an associates degree in nursing and spent the first six months as an RN working in a small town ER.  Since January 2011 she has been a Wellness Director/DON for an assisted living facility and upon completion of the RN-BS track of the baccalaureate nursing program she intends to continue pursuing a management career in nursing along with the possibility of teaching.  Her long term goal is a Masters Degree in Nurse Management along with the possibility of becoming a Nurse Practitioner and is so very thankful for this scholarship and wants to thank everyone involved for this opportunity.

Joan Selvaggi would like to thank the Nursing Scholarship Committee and the donors for awarding her this scholarship.  Joan is a junior nursing student and works full-time as a Dialysis RN. She has a wonderful, supportive family with a husband and two children, ages 9 and 11.  Joan's plans are to graduate from ISU with a B.S. with a major in Nursing with hopes to continue her work as a Manager or Educator.  This scholarship will help her achieve my educational goals.  Thank you so much!
