Recipient

Deborah Ann Boling was born and raised in the city of Chicago. She has two sons, Adam, age 17 and David, age 14. Her significant other is a Native American / Mexican who graduated with his Master's in History in 2006. Deborah's previous careers include: a Radioman in the Navy, Phlebotomist, and Secretary. She chose to major in Nursing because she appreciates that nurses provide more than medical care; they care for the person as a whole. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and a McNair Scholar and plans to attend Graduate School to attain a Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing. She is considering schools in my home town (Chicago), the Southwest (Tucson), and the Northwest (Seattle). Deborah would like to work for the Veteran's Administration or the World Health Organization. Her research interests include breastfeeding benefits (for women and their infants) and traumatic brain injury recovery. She enjoys swimming, reading, hiking, biking, Guy Ritchie films, and music from Celia Cruz to Madonna.
