Jason Chaplin is currently a Senior in the LPN to BS
distance track of the baccalauareate nursing program at ISU. He is
currently working as a Hospice Nurse and intends to stay at ISU until he
earns his Master's and can work as a Nurse Practitioner in a NICU. He is
a husband of 7 years and father to two daughters ages 6 & 5. He earned
his LPN from Ivy Tech Indianapolis where he was selected as Indiana's
New Century Scholar for 2010 and the First member of the All Indiana
Academic Team. Jason is a performer of the Native American Flute and has
traveled all over the US and as far as Konya, Turkey sharing his message
of the calming and healing effects of this beautiful peaceful music. His
group is called Branches Breath. He believes in sharing the gifts he has
been given and to never take a single day for granted. Jason would like
to thank the donors who have made this gift possible and the committee
for selecting him as a recipient.
Lance Griepenstroh is a recent father of a ten month
old daughter. Lance and his wife have been trying to conceive a
child for the past three years and this past year he and his wife gave
birth to a healthy daughter. Lance currently works for the
department of Veteran Affairs as a surgical LVN. Lance was
nominated the Karis award recipient for the nursing award in 2010 at the
VA. He is currently attending the LVN-BS track of the
baccalaureate nursing program at Indiana State University. He is
focusing his nursing specialty in the Head & Neck medical field.
Lance is extremely thankful in his nomination for the Lees Rees
Scholarship. He sends his sincere gratitude for such a high honor
and wants to thank Indiana State University, Department of Baccalaureate
Nursing Completion and the Lees Rees Scholarship Funding members.
Lance feels that this honor will help go towards his path in becoming
the registered nurse that he has always inspired to be. Thank you!
Gweon Il Kim is a 46 year old husband and father of 2
living in Cypress, CA. He expresses his sincere thanks to the donors for
awarding him with this scholarship. He works full time in the skilled
nursing facility as a charge nurse in Buena Park, CA. Both of his
children are college students, too. He loves nursing and taking care of
people. When he has spare time, he likes to visit his children at
colleges with his wife. He enjoys running and weightlifting to keep him
healthy and to reduce stress. He hopes to graduate from ISU with a B.S.
with a major in nursing while working full time and would like to
continue on in his education.
Suzanne Tucker is honored to be selected as one of the
recipients of this scholarship. She lives in Brazil, IN with her
husband and is the mother of two adult daughters. Both of her daughters,
Ashley and Erika, have also selected nursing as a career. She graduated
from ISU School of Nursing in 1982 with an Associate Degree and is
currently working on her Bachelors Degree. She is currently employed at
Union Hospital Inc. in Infection Control as a Surveillance Nurse. She
has found nursing to be rewarding and it has always offered her
continued professional growth. She feels that there is always something
new to learn in a nursing career and is enjoying her studies at Indiana
State University for the second time. She wants to thank the committee
for selecting her for the scholarship.
Nathan Daniel was born and raised in Kansas City, MO
and loves being outdoors. He actually started his medical career as an
EMT with the United States Forest Service. Now he works in the Emergency
Department of a local Christian based hospital as an LVN (LPN). He
currently lives in Modesto, CA with his wife of five years, two dogs,
and a baby on the way. He is very excited for the opportunities a BS
with a major in Nursing brings but doesn't plan on leaving emergency
medicine. He is very grateful for the generosity that is helping
perpetuate his life goals to fruition.
Ashlee Sosa
Lori Carpenter is a Registered Nurse with Union
Hospital. She has been a nurse since Frebruary 2009. She is currently
enrolled in the RN-BS online track at ISU. Lori has 2 children with the
oldest being 18 and currently enrolled with ISU to pursue her bachelor's
degree in nursing and become an RN.
LaTosha Hutchinson is a wife and mother of two. She is
VERY grateful for being rewarded this scholarship and its use will help
her continue the path to obtaining her BS with a major in Nursing. She
always strives to put her best foot forward so those that have invested
in her future can be glad they did, and there are no exceptions. She
thanks the scholarship committee once again and is looking forward to
the finish line!
Erik Woodhouse expresses his sincere thanks to the
donors of the Lee Rees scholarship. Erik is a
military veteran who served as a Hospital Corpsman in Iraq during
Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is an honor student working towards
completion of his Nursing degree through Indiana State University's
Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Science track of the
baccalaureate nursing program. Erik currently works for the
Veteran Affairs administration and has aspirations of completing
graduate studies in nursing sciences.
