Deb Barnhart received her BSN from ISU, her MSN from Indiana University with a focus of Community Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing and completed post master’s work at the University of Colorado

Deb began at ISU in 1983 with her primary teaching/clinical experience in Fundamentals and Mental Health. She also served as the Director of Continuing Education for 16 years and has been teaching in the area of “caring and healing” offering courses nationally and internationally. She has taken caring and healing rituals courses including Tai Chi and Therapeutic Touch.

Deb began teaching in the pre-professional year in 2003.  Her involvement in the First Year Initiatives and learning communities has been challenging and rewarding as she collaborates with faculty and professional staff at ISU.  She enjoys interacting with students beginning their exploration of professional nursing as a career, teaching N104 Introduction to Professional Nursing and providing academic advisement.

Deb serves as the Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivor Organization and Y-Me Program Partner Secretary.
