Dr. McKinney teaches NURS 484: Reflective Nursing Practice, a practicum course for synthesis and evaluation of professional nursing role behaviors essential to practice in specialized settings. Students have clinical experiences in each of these settings, with half of the practicum hours in medical-surgical or intensive care nursing settings and an additional specialty for the remaining hours. Current specialties include oncology, pediatrics, obstetrics, orthopedics, general surgery, cardio-thoracic surgery, emergency room, ambulatory care, and school nursing with students in Danville, IL and throughout Indiana—from Valparaiso to Evansville and other communities in between!
Melody also provides services to a local hospice in the form of
volunteer education and direct patient and family support; and serves as
an editorial board member and chair of the Oncology Nursing Review Group
for Doody
