In order to access SPSS or Minitab from off campus you must have a Blade3 account. This account can be obtained by having your professor request one from the Help Desk at x2910. The Help Desk will need your professor to give them your Portal ID and 991 number. After the account has been created you will be given a Blade3 password.
This is the step by step process of how to log into the Blade3 server.
On Windows go to Start, then click on All Programs, followed by
Accessories and then Communications. Choose the shortcut labeled "Remote Desktop
Connection"
On a Mac you will have to download the Remote Desktop Client for Mac at http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/remote-desktop/default.mspx and install first.
"
You should get a window like the image shown below:
In order to use the hard drive on your computer or your personal printer you will need to do the following BEFORE connecting to the Blade3 server.
1. Click the Options button
2. Click on the Local Resources tab
3. Make sure that the box marked Printers is checked
4. Click on the More button
5. Check the boxes labeled "Drives" and "Other supported Plug and Play (PnP) devices" then click the
OK button
6. Click on the General tab to return to the login
On the "Computer" Line, type blade3.indstate.edu and then click Connect.
You will get a large screen with a Novell username and password box.
Please
be sure to Uncheck Workstation Only.

Type your Sycamore Login and Password (the MyISU portal information) on the line and click Ok.
NOTE: If you receive an error message you will need to verify that you can
log into your My ISU (Portal) successfully. If you cannot you will need
to change your password using the Forgot/Change Password link on the
Portal log in page. If you can log into Portal you will then need to
contact the help desk at x2910 for assistance.
When you see the Windows Workstation login box, type your Blade3
username and password on the line, then click the OK button. The
username typically matches your Sycamore Login but the password will be
different. This is the password given to you by your professor and NOT your Portal password.
Because you are connected to the server profile once you are connected,
you will notice that your icons and the programs are different.
To Access SPSS or other Statistical Software packages, click the Start
Button, then All Programs. You will find a Statistical Software folder
listed. Beneath that are SAS, Minitab and SPSS for Windows.
You will most likely wish to change the initial password assigned to one a bit easier for you to remember. To change your password, you will need to be logged in to the terminal server.
It is a good idea to change your password from time to time as it is the primary security for your personal terminal server account.
Once inside the Blade3 account, you will need to open up your SPSS files you are working on, and do one of two options:
When you are finished with your session, click the Start button and select Logoff. This will return your computer to your normal desktop.
NOTE: If at some point during your session you are disconnected but are not finished with your session, you have 10 minutes to reconnect.

All systems normal.
