Setting Up My Mobile Device for Accessing ISU Wireless

iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

Connecting to "ISU-OIT-WPA" on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
Use iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad to access "ISU-OIT-WPA," a secure wireless network that is accessible throughout campus.

Before You Begin
For best results, please update your iPhone or iPod Touch to the latest version. For more information, refer to Apple's support article, iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software.

These instructions require you to be within range of "ISU-OIT-WPA".

Connect to "ISU-OIT-WPA" with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
To connect to "ISU-OIT-WPA" with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad do the following:

  1. Press Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. If it is not already on, turn on Wi-Fi.
  3. Under Choose a network..., press ISU-OIT-WPA.
  4. Enter your Sycamore ID and password.
  5. Press Join.
  6. If you are asked to accept a certificate, press Accept.

You are now connected to "ISU-OIT-WPA". From now on, iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad will automatically connect to "ISU-OIT-WPA" when Wi-Fi is turned on and you are within range of "ISU-OIT-WPA."

Manually Configure "ISU-OIT-WPA" on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
On rare occasions, iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad cannot automatically connect to the ISU wireless network. In such cases, try resetting the device and then manually configuring "ISU-OIT-WPA" as a WPA2 Enterprise wireless network.

To manually configure "ISU-OIT-WPA" on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad do the following:

  1. Reset iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad by simultaneously holding down the power button and the home button. Keep holding both buttons even after you see the message, Slide to power off. Allow iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to power off by itself. After the device has powered off, wait 20-30 seconds and then turn it back on by pressing the power button.
  2. Press Settings > Wi-Fi.
  3. If it is not already on, turn on Wi-Fi.
  4. Under Choose a network..., press Other....
  5. Type ISU-OIT-WPA in the box labeled Name.
  6. Press Security, and then press WPA2 Enterprise.
  7. Press Other Network to return to the previous screen.
  8. Enter your Sycamore ID and password.
  9. Press Join.
  10. If you are asked to accept a certificate, press Accept.

You are now connected to "ISU-OIT-WPA". From now on, your device will automatically connect to " ISU-OIT-WPA " when Wi-Fi is turned on and you are within range of " ISU-OIT-WPA."

Android Devices

Your Android must be Wi-Fi capable and running OS 2.1 or later in order to connect to ISU Wi-Fi.

NOTE: Due to variations in Android devices, not every Android-based device will work in the same way, therefore OIT cannot guarantee every device can be made to work.

  1. From the Android Home screen, tap Menu then tap Settings.
  2. Tap Wireless and network then tap Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi to turn on the wireless on the device if not already on.
  4. Under the list of Wi-Fi networks, tap ISU-OIT-WPA.
