Frequently Asked Questions Timeclocks
Q. How do I install TPS on my computer?
A. You cannot install TPS on your own computer. You will need to first contact Payroll to have an
account created with the proper access and then with Payroll's approval, someone from ICS will install
TPS on your computer. ICS needs the following information before TPS can be installed on your PC:
- Building
- Room/Office Number
- ISU Property Tag Number
- Name
- Phone
- Employee Number
- Email Address
Q. When I try to log in to TPS, I receive a message that says 'The System is Currently Down for Maintenance.'
What does this mean?
A. This means that we have disabled the ability to log in to TPS.Occasionally we must do this because it is not
possible to perform maintenance on the TPS system while users are logged in without corrupting the data. Except
in extreme emergencies, we will send an email to all TPS users prior to disabling logins.
Q. When I try to start TPS, it says 'Please Wait...' and then after a few minutes, another window appears and says
'Error: 90124'.
A. This is because there is a problem with your computer communicating with the TPS server. You will normally see
this message only if you try to start TPS while we have the TPS server shut down for maintenance. If you have not
received an email stating that the server would be shut down, there may be another problem.
Q. When I type in my employee number and password to log in to TPS, it says 'Login not accepted - Access Denied.'
A. Retype your employee number and password to make sure you haveentered them correctly. If they are correct, then
there is a problem with your account; you will need to contact Payroll and request to have your password reset.
Q. I am unable to start TPS but other people are not having problems. What should I do?
A. You should try to log into TPS on another computer. If you are unable to, then there may be a problem with your
TPS account and you should contact Payroll to make sure it is correct. Otherwise, the copy of TPS on your computer
may be corrupt and you should contact ICS. It is also a good idea when having problems with any program to save your
work and reboot your computer. Sometimes this will fix the problem.
Q. I am unable to start TPS and other people using TPS are having the same problem. What should I do?
A. Check your email to make sure that the TPS server was not taken down for maintenance. If not, then
there could be a problem with the TPS server; you should contact ICS.
