Hardware SupportWorkstation support available: User Services provides consulting support services to faculty and staff using Windows (95, 98, and 2000) based platforms. Macintosh 7.x and above computer platforms are supported as well. Please contact the Director of User Services, Yancy Phillips or by phone at extension 4248 to discuss the consideration, strategic planning, and possible implementation of supporting other workstation platforms Hardware repair is available for all university owned computers containing Pentium or Macintosh Power PC, processors. In addition, any ancillary or peripheral equipment attached to a covered computer such as external drives, printers, scanners, and plotters are supported by IT. Hardware Upgrade support may be requested for desktop computers and printers. OIT is usually available to provide equipment upgrade services at no cost to the user on a low priority basis. However, all such requests must be evaluated to determine whether the appropriate technical expertise and resources are available to perform the requested upgrade. If OIT cannot provide the service or if faster response is required, then our outsourced hardware repair vendor, Dell can perform these upgrades at standard 'time and materials' (T& M) rates. [Note: OIT does not perform upgrades on laptop equipment; these requests go directly to Dell to obtain user approval of the T&M charge]. Network support available: IP addresses can be provided for Windows (95, 98, 2000), Macintosh (7.x and above), NT (3.5x and above) and UNIX platforms. This page is maintained by IT-US@indstate.edu |
