Residential Computer Consultants (RCCs) are students hired and trained by OIT to support the technology needs of students living in residential housing. RCC’s live in the residence hall that he or she supports. In many cases the RCCs are already known by many of their fellow students as technology experts.
RCCs will assist residential students by:
Introducing them to ISU’s technology resources
Assisting them with CCA (Cisco Clean Access)
Installing software to help students connect to the ISU network
Troubleshooting student network connection issues
Removing spyware and viruses
Installing McAfee antivirus
Referring students to the Computer Support Center for additional assistance
Assisting with general computing questions
Contacting Your RCC
During opening weekend and the first two weeks of the fall and spring semester you may ask your RCC for assistance without scheduling an appointment. The RCCs will be working on a first-come first-serve basis and will make themselves available by walking through the residence hall offering their services. After this initial period, appointments can be made with your RCCs by contacting the OIT Help Desk at
2910. There are also scheduled hours where an RCC will be available for questions in a central location or lounge in the residence hall. RCC scheduled hours and locations will be posted on the RCC Web page at
http://ithelp.indstate.edu/RCC.
RCCs will be easily recognized by their OIT ID badge. Their pictures will also be displayed on the RCC Web site.
