How to find ethernet address in Windows XP.

Step 1

  • Click on the start Menu as shown in figure 1

  • Click on Control Button as shown in figure 1

  • After you open Control Panel it should look like either Figure 2a or Figure 2b
  • If yours looks like Figure 2a click on Network and Internet Connections
  • If yours Looks like Figure 2b click on Network Connections and skip to Figure 2d

  • Click on Network Connections as shown in Figure 2c

  • When the Network Connection window opens as shown in Figure 2d (Yours should look similar but you may have other connections present) double click on Local Area Connection.

  • The window called Local Area Connection Status will open as shown in Figure 2e

  • Click on the Support tab

  • After you have clicked on the Support tab it should look like Figure 2f

  • Click on the Details button as shown in Figure 2f

Figure 2g

  • A window called Network Connection Details will open as shown in Figure 2g

  • The Physical Address is your Ethernet Adapter (Hardware) address, this is the number the IT Help Desk will need to register your computer in the BootP server.
