Changing Your Sycamore Login Password

Minimum Guidelines For Secure Passwords
On October 15, 2008 ISU began enforcing strong passwords per pdf "Use of Passwords Policy" located in the University Handbook (revised copy August 2003) Section V, pages V-17.

To reset your Sycamore Login (for Portal, Blackboard, and Sycamores Email), password please visit https://isuportal.indstate.edu/password/ResetPassword and select the "Forgot/Change Your Password?" under the login box, and then follow the prompts.

The following is the minimum standards that passwords must meet:

  • Password minimum length is 8 characters (maximum of 29 characters)
  • Password must contain at least one numeric character
  • Password must contain at least one uppercase character
  • Password must contain at least one lowercase character
  • Password must be changed every 180 days
  • Important note: Do not use the following special characters when creating your password as it there could be incompatibilities with some of ISU's internal systems:
    <Space> # ~ ^ * ? , : ; | " [ ] { } @$& () <>' =
