Targeted Announcements

Within the MyISU Portal, there is the capability of sending messages to a select group of people. The messages can appear in the portal's Today's Announcements area on the My Pipeline page and/or as an e-mail to the user's official ISU e-mail account*.

Target audience groups include:

To submit an item, please use the Targeted Announcement Form or contact the office (Word, download the free viewer) that handles the topic and group that you want to send a message to.

For instance, only the appropriate Dean's office will be able to send messages to students with a certain major. If you have a message that all faculty should receive, you must contact the Office of Academic Affairs.

Please note that faculty have the capability to directly send e-mails to the students registered for each of their courses using an online list. This is found on the MyISU's School Services tab. Each section has it own homepage with this feature in the Tools area. However, if a faculty member wishes to send a message to all ISU students or those with a certain major or all those taking a specific section or course she is not teaching, she must work with the appropriate Dean's Office.

The Portal Action Team has set guidelines (Word, download the free viewer) for the targeted messages. These include both technical aspects of what the system can accommodate and policy issues that will help guide the content and selection of the message vehicle. Please be aware of these guidelines before you submit your requests.

* Note: Students must log onto the MyISU portal and click their E-mail button to activate their personal portal E-mail accounts. They must do this before they can receive E-mails sent using the targeted announcement utility or the faculty E-mail Class tool.

If you have questions about the MyISU Targeted Announcement utility or have suggestions for the online form please e-mail IT-Help@indstate.edu..
