Telephone Services

Local Phone Service

A telephone line is optionally available with each residence hall room. To obtain a telephone line contact the Residential Life Office. Cost for optional telephone service is $25.00 per month and service must be kept for a full semester.

Emergency telephones with E911 access are provided in the hallway on each floor of each residence hall.

Optional student telephone lines come with private voice mail service. There is no need to bring an answering machine.

Phone Repair

If your telephone is not working properly, please contact the Telecommunications Help Desk at X8000 .

Long Distance

In order to make a long distance call from your residence hall room you will be required to charge the call to a credit/calling card.

Dial 911 or Public Safety at 5555.

Local Dialing *

Terre Haute number: Dial 97 + seven-digit local phone number

Clinton number: Dial 97 + 765 + seven-digit Clinton number

* If you think a number might be local dial it that way first. If you are certain a number is local but it cannot be dialed that way, call x8000 or the Campus Operator by dialing 0.

On Campus

To call another number on campus, dial the four-digit extension (the numbers following the 237 prefix).

Dial 97 + 1 + 8XX + XXX-XXXX

Directory Assistance

Campus: Dial “0”

Local: Off campus directory assistance is no longer available.
