State mobile smart phone application

Indiana State University has released a free mobile application for smartphones that will keep students, staff, and faculty in touch with their campus from any location at any time of day.  With the State Mobile application, also known as ISU Mobile, people will be able to access Sycamore athletic information, faculty and staff directory, emergency phone numbers, campus news, student alerts and a building guide by downloading the application to a Blackberry, iPhone, or Android.


What version of my phone do I need to use the application?

Android users will have to have Android OS 2.0 or higher
BlackBerry users will have to have 4.2.1 or later with exception of the 8700 trackwheel device, HTTP connectivity vis BES, BIS, or WAP20
Apple users will have to have iPhone or iPod Touch OS 3.0 or later, iPad OS 3.2 or later

When will the State Mobile application be available?

For Android OS users - available now
For BlackBerry users - available 1st quarter 2011
For Apple (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) users - available now

Where can I get the application?

When they become available, they can be downloaded from the appropriate app store. (Android Market, BlackBerry App World, iTunes App Store)

What information does the application offer?

Athletics - You can see all the relevant news about ISU's sport teams. Each team's schedule and recent results are just a click away.
Calendar - The calendar includes information on upcoming events around campus and dates you should not forget.
Courses - In courses you can find information on any class scheduled for the next few semesters. There is some useful information, like instructor name, time, and seats available. You can even use it to find a map to the class.
Places - Places include a list of buildings and important offices on campus, as will as a map of all these locations. By clicking on a building's name, you can get turn-by-turn directions to that building. Note to BlackBerry users: In order to use this functionality you have to use Google Maps not BlackBerry Maps.
Emergency - This is a list of all the phone numbers you could need to dial in an emergency. When you click on one of these, then the "Dial Number" button, the app enters the number into your phone for you.
Directory - There are two parts of Directory, Employee Directory and Helpful Numbers. The employee directory contains a list of school faculty and staff you can search to see the person's room and phone numbers and email addresses. Helpful Numbers includes the phone numbers and addresses for banks, pharmacies, restaurants, and other businesses you may need near campus.
ISU Quarterly Magazine - This links to ISU Quarterly Magazine's web site, which is published by the Division of Enrollment Management, Marketing, and Communications four times a year.
ISU News - You can view recent news from your college (or any other college) and other general news from around campus. Clicking on any story takes you to a more detailed version.
MyInfo - Currently in MyInfo you can see some information important to you, such as your standing, account balance, and advisor. New features are coming soon, such as the ability to see your grades and the balance of your meal plan.
