Electronic Mail at ISU

All ISU students, faculty, and staff are eligible for a network account that will allow access to electronic mail services at ISU.

Using Email at ISU:

STUDENTS

ISU Students are provided an Outlook Web Access account, also known as OWA.  They can access their email through the http://isuportal.indstate.edu .  They can login to the Portal by using their Sycamore login and password, and then click on the mail button at the top right of the page.

Information on the new secure passwords is available here:  http://www1.indstate.edu/oit1/userservices/ithelp/network/faq2-1.html

OWA accounts can also be accessed directly from a web browser, by going to http://webmail.indstate.edu

All official university correspondence will be delivered to the student’s OWA account.

FACULTY and STAFF

ISU faculty and staff will be provided an OWA account, but they will also be provided an Outlook client on their ISU owned PC.

Again, OWA accounts can also be accessed directly from a web browser, by going to http://webmail.indstate.edu

RETIREES

Retirees will be provided an OWA account.  These accounts can also be accessed from a web browser, by going to http://webmail.indstate.edu

ALUMNI

ISU alumni will be provided a Windows Live email account.  They will receive an email informing them of their Windows Live userid and password.  The alumni accounts can be accessed from a web browser, by going to http://login.live.com

Email Addresses

An Internet e-mail address consists of the user's network name, followed by the symbol @, followed by the name of the server, followed by the institution's name, and ending with the Internet domain.

At ISU, a student’s internet e-mail address would be their portal id, followed by @mail.indstate.edu.  They would also have an alias of their portal id followed by @indstate.edu.

For example:    jdoe2@mail.indstate.edu  or  jdoe2@indstate.edu

ISU faculty and staff have an internet e-mail address based on preferred firstname.lastname followed by a digit, if necessary, to uniquely distinguish the person if others have the same first and last names.

 For example:     john.doe2@indstate.edu
