Sapphire Web Server Information

Obtaining a Sapphire Account:

All registered students receive a 20 MB Web account on the student Web server named Sapphire for personal Web pages. You can access your account using your Sycamore Login and Password.

Contact the Help Desk if you do not have an account or it is not working properly.

Things you need to know about Sapphire:

  1. If you are using SharePoint Designer from off campus, you can log in by clicking File, Open Site
    Where it says "Site Name:" type ftp://sapphire.indstate.edu/
    Username will be your username.
  2. Make sure to name your main page "index.html." If you are missing an index page you may receive an error when viewing your Web site.
  3. To view your page, go to the web site: http://sapphire.indstate.edu/~username/name of page.html
    username=
    your own username
    name of page=
    the name of your own page.
  4. Sapphire also accepts FTP and SSH connections. The server address is: sapphire.indstate.edu
  5. Web pages should reside within the public_html directory.
  6. File names and links to file names are case sensitive.
