  3. How will I get the software?

On-Campus students can download the software directly to your PC or Mac. Go to http://downloads.indstate.edu and follow the instructions. The only available software item that cannot be downloaded is the Windows/XP operating system. If you already have a PC, you probably do not need this. If you do need the operating system, you can pick up a CD at the walk-in Help Desk in the Student Computing Complex, in room 127. You will be required to show an ISU picture ID and sign an acceptance form.

Distance Education students can also download the software directly to a PC or Mac. Go to http://downloads.indstate.edu and follow the instructions. The only available software item that cannot be downloaded is the Windows/XP operating system. You probably do not need this, if you already have a PC. If you do need the operating system, you can request that a copy be mailed to you. You will need to print and fill out the MSCA Acceptance Form, located at: http://www.indstate.edu/msca/campusagreementform.pdf. You need to initial the line next to each statement, then sign and date the form.

When completed mail the form to:

    Indiana State University

    200 N 7th St.

  5. If the software causes problems on my computer, what do I do?
No technical support is provided by Indiana State University. We encourage you to try the options listed below:

    • Read the README.doc or README.txt file in the installation CD's root directory. It may describe conditions that could lead to the problem you're having.
    • Search Microsoft's Knowledge Base for the same or similar symptoms. Common problems and their solutions or workarounds can often be found here.
      1. Go to the web page at http://support.microsoft.com/
        search/
        .
      2. Select the applicable product name.
      3. Indicate that you want to do a keyword search.
      4. Type the error message or appropriate keywords in the input box and click on "go".

  6. Is documentation included in the Campus Agreement?
Printed documentation is not included with the software.  However, some software packages provide online documentation. In addition, most local bookstores carry a considerable variety of detailed documentation for these products.

  7. What is the policy for upgrades under the Campus Agreement?
You can upgrade to the newest versions of each product in the product offering throughout the 12-month agreement term after Information Technology has released it as a supported software.

  8. Can I upgrade my operating system?
Yes. To upgrade your Microsoft operating system, you must currently have a valid license for Windows 3.1 or above. The CDs for Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 98 SE upgrades can be checked out at the Cunningham Memorial Library's Reserve desk. Windows XP Professional upgrade CD is available as a handout.

  9. What happens when I graduate or leave Indiana State University? Can I legally keep the software on my computer?
When you graduate from Indiana State University during the agreement term, the Software license will convert to a perpetual license, meaning you have full ownership of the software. Prior to graduation from the institution, it is your responsibility to obtain the License Confirmation document from the Help Desk in SCC 127.  The License Confirmation will be completed providing you with documentation of ownership.  This form will only be completed for you if you graduate from Indiana State University.

  10. What happens if I do not graduate from Indiana State University?  Can I legally keep the software on my computer?
If you do not graduate from Indiana State University the software license WILL NOT convert to a perpetual license and YOU must remove all software that was obtained through the Microsoft Campus Agreement from your computer. Failure to remove the software from your computer is a copyright violation.

  11. What if ISU decides not to renew the Microsoft Campus Agreement?
The software may be used only as long as the MSCA is in effect. ISU has the option to renew the agreement annually. If the MSCA is not renewed or replaced by another agreement, you would be contractually obligated to do one of the following:

    • Delete or remove the software from your computer at the time the agreement expires or is terminated, and use the version that was previously on the computer;
    • Purchase licenses of the software for each individual machine; or
    • Delete or remove the software from your computer at the time the agreement expires or is terminated, and purchase a license for a different product.

  12. How does the MSCA apply to me if I am both an employee and a student?
First, you must remove the software that was purchased under MSCA for faculty/staff, and then you are eligible for all software that will be available under the MSCA for students. There will be no refunds on software purchased under the MSCA for faculty/staff if you use the student option.

  13. Can I transfer or sell the software that I receive from the MSCA?
No. The software is non-transferable under any circumstances.

  14. If I was not assessed the student technology fee, can I pay the fee and then receive the software?
No. If you were not assessed the student technology fee when you paid for classes, you cannot pay the fee and receive software.

  15. Can I receive both Windows and Mac software?
No. You can only receive software for the Windows based platform or the Macintosh platform. If you received both it would be considered as installing it on two personal computers and that is not allowed by the Microsoft Campus Agreement .
