There are many things New Students can do to prepare for their first semester. To help students begin their transition to the university, all new freshmen will be enrolled in their first course: Sycamoreology. You will be automatically enrolled in this course on Blackboard. Many of the courses here at Indiana State utilize this online tool.
Sycamoreology is an interactive game that will help you explore important areas of the University through various media over the summer. The objective of Sycamoreology is for you to find as many Sycamore Leaves as possible. These leaves are posted on several communication pieces we will be mailing to you prior to the start of the fall semester, but also spread in various places on Indiana State University’s web site
Each Sycamoreology leaf will be connected to a code. Make a note of the leaf’s number and code. It might be helpful for you to note where you found it as well, as on occasion, you will be asked questions about the content around the leaf. Once you have been registered in the course, you can begin entering the codes you find throughout the summer, have the ability to ask questions, and engage with your new classmates. It can take up to 48 hours after registering for orientation to have access to the course.
Sycamoreology will be available to all students that registered for orientation on or before March 27th on April 3rd. If you have any questions regarding Sycamoreology please direct them to Ann Malloy by emailing Ann.Malloy@indstate.edu. Remember, you must sign up for orientation before you will have access to Sycamoreology. Visit blackboard.indstate.edu to get started!
