We understand most transfer students have already attended a comprehensive orientation program at their previous
institution. This program is abbreviated to best meet your needs as a student who has already had some experience
in higher education.
Attending orientation is expected of all new transfer students. This program is how you will register for classes,
meet 1:1 with a financial aid representative, receive your student ID card, and take care of other necessary campus
Check-in and be on time. Students can accomplish a great deal at Transfer Orientation if they
check-in and arrive on time. Check out our parking map and write down Admissions' phone number in case you get lost.
During check-in we'll go through your student account and make sure you're eligible to register for classes.
Completing the checklist and reviewing the information in MyISU
beforehand makes this process easy.
Be prepared. You will meet one-on-one with an Academic Advisor during orientation, so be sure to send
the Office of Admissions all previous coursework from other institutions, even if some courses are still in progress,
at least two weeks in advance. You may want to bring copies with you, just in case.
Login to MyISU and review all tabs. This is a great resource to help you determine what items you may still need to
Ask Questions. We realize transfer students are entering ISU with differing college experiences. If you
need more information, our staff are here to help. We pride ourselves in working one-on-one with transfer students during
these smaller orientation programs.
Stay in touch. You'll have some questions after orientation and we're all here to help. Take business
cards of those staff members you interact with at the resource fair and throughout the day. Feel free to contact the Office
of Admissions should you have questions or concerns after you have completed your session.
