Teacher Education

Students should be thoroughly familiar with the requirements for the teaching curriculum and admission to the Teacher Education Program. Additionally, students will follow the School of Educations' required sequence of professional courses and admission requirements. Refer to the School of Education and the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Media Technology in the University Catalog.

The teacher education major provides you with theoretical knowledge combined with practical application working with students in area schools. Beginning with your freshman year, you are progressively guided through learning experiences which prepare you for a career in teaching. Numerous opportunities are included in which you apply concepts of teaching in high school, middle school, and elementary school settings. The culmination of your program will be student teaching which provides a semester long teaching experience.

You will enjoy small classes taught by professors recognized nationally for their expertise in teacher education.

This major may be added to the All Grade Education Instructional License and its coverage is all grades.
