Position Assistant Professor Year Joined ISU 2005 Expertise and Activity Statement Carl is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science. He earned a BA from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, an MA from the University of California at Davis, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. His research interests include campaigns and elections, state politics, and welfare policy, especially as these three subjects pertain to political and social inequality and reform. His most recent work is with election forecasting models applied to the 2006 and 2008 House and Senate elections as well as the 2008 presidential election. His classes emphasize modern Political Science approaches which are often informed by the results of statistical studies.
