Position Instructor Year Joined ISU 2011 Expertise and Activity Statement Carly Schmitt is an instructor in the Department of Political Science, and also a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She teaches courses in American Politics. Ms. Schmitt's research interests focus on congressional legislative behavior, congressional campaigns, and representation. Her current projects explore the campaign-legislative behavior linkage by studying the extent to which primaries promote partisanship and polarization in Congress.
