placeholder for slideshow We met everyone at the Indy airport. Once we were there we had to wait for a long time so we hung out til our plane was boarding. We then left Indy and flew to Minneapolis, where we then boarded a DC-10 to take us across the pond. The flight was scheduled to take 9 hours so we had plenty of down time on the plane. To combat this Billy and I bought little handheld games that the airport to play on the way there. (note mine broke already) The flight was pretty cool. This was the first time I had been on a big plane and only the second time I had flown. There were two seats on each side and then five in the middle. I was lucky enough to get an aisle seat for every flight.  Once in the air they served us our first meal almost immediately. On all international flights your drinks are free, which was a bonus feature. For the flight myself and a few other people chose to stay up the whole flight. We arrived in London's Gatwick airport at 9:00 A.M. London time and 3:00 A.M. Indiana time. This presented a little bit a time adjustment issue for some. Once at the airport we went through customs which was fairly easy and exchanged some cash for pounds. We then boarded a bus and took it to the hotel. This might have been the longest two hour bus ride known to man. It was hot and sticky and not to mention the bus driver might as well just rolled the bus over because his driving was so bad. Our first impressions of England were that almost everyone drives what we consider luxury cars. There are BMW's and Mercedes everywhere. One thing you don't see at all is trucks and SUV's over there. They are much more into the compact car area. While on our way to the hotel we drove by pretty much every main attraction in London, which was nice. Once we arrived at the hotel we were immediately able to get into our rooms. Now from the outside this looks to be a very nice hotel for London. Once we arrived at our rooms we were sorely disappointed. My room at home was bigger than our hotel room and we had to have THREE people per room! So needless to say it was a very tight living quarter while in London. There was one bed and one fold out couch in the room. Billy and I got settled into our rooms and decided to go right away to get something to eat. Everyone else decided to take a nap but we were hungry. So we just went walking down the street and went into a pub that we found. To order food you have to go up to the bar. There is no waiter or waitress that came around to the tables to help you out. The service we had here was harsh and unfriendly. The woman when I ordered my food said she couldn't understand me. Now how in the world does that happen when you both speak English? Go figure. Anyway we ordered our food and both our orders were incorrect but we didn't say anything because of how that had been treating us. So we finished our meal and headed back to the hotel for a nap. The weather in London this time of year was very cold and damp. It didn't rain on us but it always seemed like it was going to. After our nap Billy and I woke up and went out to dinner with a couple of our friends. We found a little bar by the hotel that was names BLU. This is what we would call a smoking/relaxing bar during the day. Patrons come in and sit down to smoke and have a drink. There are leather couches and chairs all throughout the place and it was very cozy. When we got there we couldn't find anywhere to seat our group but a group of other people moved so we could sit down. The meal we had was super. I had a chicken sandwich that had a spicy mayo sauce on it along with a bowl of potato wedges. My meal came to 12 pounds and that was with one drink. So you can see that in American dollars just a simply chicken sandwich and a beer cost me about $24! As you can see, London was very pricy to say the least.
