Psy.D. Program in Clinical Psychology

A university-based Psy.D. Program, the doctoral program in clinical psychology at ISU follows a practitioner-scientist model of training and has been APA-accredited for more than 25 years. Our students are required to complete a dissertation, thus we place somewhat more emphasis on research skills than do some Psy.D. programs. Students interested in a doctoral program that provides rigorous training in clinical skills as well as research opportunities may be particularly suited for our program.

Our Psy.D. program ranked in the top 20 nationwide among Clinical Psychology programs for percent of students "matched" for Internship. Our match rate of 94.3% (based on 53 students applying for Internships through APPIC between 2000-2006) was one of  the highest among Psy.D. programs nationwide!  (See Aug. 2006 News Release for more details!)

Our seven clinical faculty members are all engaged in clinical work as well as a range of different research projects.  Click here to learn more about the clinical faculty.

Are you a student interested in learning more about our graduate program in Clinical Psychology?  Please take a moment and read an informational letter from our Department's chairperson, Dr. Virgil Sheets.
