The President’s Award for Civic and Community Leadership is presented annually to an undergraduate student at Indiana University who has made community and civic engagement integral to her/his college experience. The purpose of the award is to honor and encourage students who have given generously of their time and energy through participation in service learning activities. The award is presented at the Center for Public Service and Community Engagement Awards Banquet on March 2, 2010.

The nominee must be a full-time student at Indiana State University and enrolled during both academic terms of the calendar year for which she/he is nominated (2009).
The student should be nominated by a member of the community or an Indiana State University faculty, student or staff member.
The nomination must be received in the Center for Public Service and Community Engagement, Tirey Hall room 134J by Monday, November 30, 2009.
The nominee will be notified of her/his candidacy for the award by the CPSCE. Nominees will then be asked to submit a list of faculty and community references and a dossier describing their recent service activity.
CPSCE will request letters of support from the reference list provided by the nominee.
The nominee should submit a dossier of service activity to Tirey Hall room 134J by Monday, January 11, 2010.
Nominees must provide evidence of exemplary community service during the past twelve-month period. This award recognizes a wide array of community service activities, including meaningful engagement with existing community organizations, creation of viable new service-oriented organizations, grassroots mobilization of people and resources, and development of innovative approaches to address pressing community issues.
Special priority will be given to applicants who have demonstrably connected their academic goals and curriculum with service activity.
A committee chaired by the Assistant Director of the Center for Public Service and Community Engagement will screen nominations for the finalists. The finalists are then forwarded to the President’s Office for selection of the award recipient.
