Indiana State University Identification Number

The project to move from using the Social Security Number as a personal identifier to a generated number was mandated by ISU's President and Vice Presidents in Summer 2001.  The goals of the project included not using the Social Security Number as the key to any electronic file unless mandated by law.

Your ID number is a nine-digit number that begins with the digits '991'.  The university administrative system (Banner) assigns it with no connection to your Social Security Number.

All individuals began using the new ID numbers as of May 19, 2003.

Please use the following instructions to access your generated ID number:

Log into the MyISU Portal:

  • Click onto http://myisu.indstate.edu/

  • Enter your Sycamore Login

  • Enter your password

  • Click on School Services tab

  • Click on Interactive Services

  • Click on Personal Information

  • Click on New ISU ID

The form provides the last 4 digits of your old ID number (most likely your SSN), your new ID number and the effective date of the change.
