Q: What is web4parent?
A. web4parent allows you to grant access to your student information to your parent(s) or legal guardian. This information includes, but is not limited to the following types of items:

  • Financial Aid - View Award History - View financial aid award history by aid year


  • Financial Aid - View Award Package - View summary of financial aid award package for the current academic year


  • Financial Aid - View Loan Application History - View financial aid loan detail by financial aid year


  • Financial Aid - View Cost of Attendance - View estimated cost of attendance based upon the student's class status


  • Registrar - View Academic Holds - View account holds A hold can prevent the student from registering for classes, viewing transcripts


  • Registrar - View Academic Transcript - View transcript information


  • Registrar - View Interim Grades - View interim grades by term


  • Registrar - View Final Grades - View final grades by term

Q: How do I access the web4parent application?
A: Complete the web4parent_form.htm. All information requested on the form must be completed before access can be granted. The completed form must arrive in our office for processing by one of the following methods:

1. By regular mail(Office of Registration and Records, Parsons Hall room 009, Indiana State University, Terre Haute, IN, 47809)
2. By fax(812-237-8039)
3. By delivering it to our office in person.

Q: How do I access the web4parent activation?
A: An email will be sent to your MyMail account, once your parent has been set up in our system. To grant your parent(s) access to your student account information, you must complete a FERPA form. To grant your parent(s) access, please proceed as follows:

  • Open the Indiana State University home page http://www.indstate.edu/home.htm.


  • Select the MyISU portal quick link.


  • Login using your Sycamore login and password.


  • Select the Parent Access option on the main menu, or simply click on the web4parent tab.


  • Select the FERPA Acknowledgement option, read and accept the FERPA Acknowledgment if you wish to activate web4parent


  • Select the FERPA Authorization option, read and accept the terms if you wish to activate web4parent


  • Select Authorize Student Information.


  • Select a name from the drop down list.


  • If your parent is not displayed, link to the Office of Registration and Records Printable Forms website, print the web4parent form, complete it, and return it to our office.


  • An e-mail will be sent to your parent after you have granted privileges. Student information is only available to your parent if you enable the page using this web application. A check-marked box indicates that the page is enabled. After submitting, you will receive an e-mail message containing an authorization summary. Changes will take effect immediately.


  • If you have previously given your parent(s)your Sycamore password, it is extremely important that you change your Sycamore password and that your parents use their own Sycamore Login and password from this point forward.

Once you have granted access to your parent, they will need to:

  • Open the Indiana State University home page http://www.indstate.edu


  • Select the MyISU portal quick link.


  • Login using their Sycamore login and password.


  • On the Homepage tab, under the Self Service channel, select My Banner Self Service Links.


  • (Note: during their initial login, your parent will be required to change their password, setup a security question and answer and acknowledge the Terms of Usage. Your parent should contact you if they need assistance with navigation, or experience difficulties with the MyISU Portal.)


  • Select the Parent Access option on the main menu, or simply click on the web4parent tab.


  • Select Show Student Information.


  • Select a Name from the drop down list.


  • Select the page to view.


  • Student information is only available to your parent if you have enabled the page using the web application. Your parents will only be able to see information that you checked in the checkbox and submitted.

Q: Do I have to give both my parents the same access to my account information?
A: No, both your parent’s names will appear as selections, but you have complete control over which parent, if either, that you grant access to your information. You could, for example, allow your father to see your grades and your bill, but allow your mother to see only your financial aid information.

Q: What is FERPA?
A: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of students and prohibits the Institution from disclosing any student information, including financial information, without the authorization of the student.

Q: Who do I contact if I experience difficulty with the Web for Parent application?
A: You can send an e-mail message to: ISU-ORR@mail.indstate.edu and someone will respond to you as quickly as possible.

Q: My parent(s) are able to access the MyISU portal from home, but get an error message when trying to access it from their place of employment. Why?
A: Many businesses havea firewall that will not allow access to some outside internet sites.
