Returning Student Housing Sign-Up
Returning Student Housing Sign-Up The Office of Residential Life
works diligently in an attempt to meet the housing needs of both the in-coming
first year and returning students at Indiana State University. Several factors
play into the process which are outlined below:
- The University Housing Policy requires all incoming
first year students who live outside a 60 mile radius of
campus to reside in University housing.
- Due to the potential increase in first-year
admissions, the amount of housing available for
returning students has decreased.
- We are also experiencing an increase in returning
students wanting to reside on campus.
- We designated Mills Hall as an upper-class hall so
returning students had the choice of a Standard
Accommodation rate (our least expensive housing option).
With such a focus on returning student housing, we have asked
our Resident Assistants and Academic Peer Advocates to meet with each
student who currently resides on campus and communicate the following
information. We will be tracking these interactions and will do
additional follow up with students that our RA/APA staff are unable to
connect with during this process. The information shared with current
residents is listed below.
- April 15th – 18th: All Returning
Students with a completed contract and were able to
select a room will be emailed advising they can do
room/hall changes if space is available
starting at Noon on Monday, April
- April 23rd – 25th: Returning
Students with a contract who paid $150 by the April 8th
deadline, but were unable to select a room will be sent
email notifying them that they will be allowed to select
a room, if space becomes available
starting at Noon on 4/23.
- April 26 – 30: Returning Students
who lost their room assignment for non-pay, but have now
paid the $150 will be sent email notifying them that
they can select from the remaining available space,
if space is available
starting at Noon on 4/26.
- May 1: Returning students who had
their room assignment cancelled on April 8th for
non-payment, and still have not paid and selected a room
will have their contract cancelled.
- May 1:
Returning students can access the Housing
Request Form online. This form is for returning
students without a contract (either because it was
cancelled on May 1st or because they never signed one
- ResLife will start assigning
returning students on the Housing
Request list in the order (by date) they
submitted the form. This will be done
if space becomes available.
- August 1: Students still on the
Housing Request list as of August 1st will be notified
that the Housing Request process has ended and they will
need to contact Residential Life if they are still in
need of on campus housing
- WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT SPACE WILL OPEN UP,
however based on past years we can say SOME space is
likely to open up.
ALL students concerned about their housing status should watch their
email and check our website FREQUENTLY for updates.
Note: If a student has signed a contract but has changed his or her
mind they can apply for a contract release. The form is located on the
Residential Life website. If a contract release is granted and the
student has paid the $150 initial payment, it will be refunded to the
