Homecoming is a week long celebration for students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the community. Annual events such as the Torch Light Parade, Sycamore Tricycle Derby, Blue and White Parade, and the Football Game create an exciting time in the Wabash Valley. For a brief history of ISU's Homecoming click here. This year is the 89th Homecoming, which also coincides with the 83rd Blue & White Parade and the 44th Sycamore Trike Race. The Indiana State Tricycle Derby was first run in 1963 as a 10-lap race around the sidewalks of the Quadrangle on children¹s tricycles. The races featured a men¹s and women¹s division (the Powder Puff Derby). The races now feature men¹s and women¹s teams racing on specially built tricycles at Recreation East and the Michael Simmons Student Activity Center at Ninth and Sycamore streets the Friday afternoon before Homecoming.
Each team qualifies for the race prior to the actual Sycamore Tricycle Derby. The fastest male and female rider qualifying for the race is honored with the title of “Hot Wheels”. For a brief history, past winners of the Sycamore Tricycle Derby and past Hot Wheels
