SYCAMORE UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (SURF)

  1. $2,500 * award for fall semester
  2. Twelve (12) awards available
  3. Not renewable, but funded research positions may be available for subsequent semesters
  4. Admission deadline: February 1
  5. Requirements (listed below) must be satisfied by February 1
  6. Open to Indiana and out-of-state residents
  7. Not open to international, online-only, or returning ISU students
  8. All incoming freshmen who are admitted to the University by February 1 and meet the criteria listed below will be considered for this scholarship. No additional application is required.
  9. To be awarded this scholarship, students must be entering ISU fall 2015 semester.

The Sycamore Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) enables students to work alongside faculty doing hands-on research. To be eligible for consideration, students must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and 1000 SAT (combined math and critical reading) or 22 ACT (composite). In addition, students must attend an on-campus research day on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

* Students selected for this award will enroll in a special section of UNIV 101, guaranteeing them a semester-long research experience. In addition, students will have opportunities for continued research during the summer between their freshman and sophomore years.
