The Office of Student Conduct and Integrity will not approach a case with any predetermination of a final disposition. Therefore, the receipt of materials should not be interpreted as a prejudgment of a student's involvement in a reported incident.
A student receives formal charges when the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity determines, based on the information available, the alleged violations may require a higher level of disciplinary action available at an informal level.
A student receiving formal charges will be given any information determined to be relevant to the case and for consideration. This information includes the main complaint document, relevant witness statements, a plea indication statement form, as well as other hearing and rights information. Provided in this packet is information outlining the process once a plea indication statement has been returned.
If the accused student does not return a plea indication statement, an administrative hearing will be scheduled around the student's class schedule.
Should the accused student not appear for the formal hearing, a decision
will be made based on the documented evidence available. A decision meeting will be scheduled with
the student based on his/her class schedule and notice sent.
If the accused student fails to attend the decision-giving meeting, an
encumbrance (hold) will be placed on the student's future enrollment
until that meeting takes place.
