Emergency Kit

If an influenza pandemic emergency occurs, the university may close.  Students would be sent home for the duration of the emergency.  Your emergency kit should contain items you will need and want to gather quickly to take home with you.  Think about the basics-- Food, Water, Clean Air and Warmth

Water-- one gallon of water per person per day
Food-- at least a three day supply of non-perishable food
Battery powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio (extra batteries)
Flashlight with extra batteries
Prescription Medications
First Aid Kit (see below for contents)
Dust Mask
Moist Towelettes
Garbage Bags with twist ties
Cell Phone with chargers
Blankets or Sleeping bags and pillow
Glasses or contacts 

 

First Aid Kit
  • Non-aspirin pain reliever / fever reducer
    • Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil)
    • Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
  • anti-diarrhea medication
  • antacid
  • laxative
  • adhesive bandages (i.e. Band-Aids)
  • sterile dressings (large and small)
  • Medical tape
  • gauze pads
  • antibiotic ointment
  • burn ointment
  • cotton swabs
  • alcohol and/or betadine wipes
  • small round tip scissors
  • tweezers
  • 2 pair of latex or other sterile gloves (if you are allergic to latex)
