The Social Work Program leading to the BSW degree is a 4 year sequence of coursework
- includes classroom courses
- includes field practicum experience in local social service agencies
Required courses fall under 5 foundation curricular content areas:
- Human Behavior in the Social Environment
- Social Welfare Policy and Services
- Social Work Practice
- Research
- Field Practicum

76 credit hours directly prescribed by the Department of Social Work
- 48 Credit hours in social work courses
  - Combination of classroom and field work = 15: SOWK 480, 498, 499
  - Volunteer work in an approved setting = 30: SOWK 130
28 Credit hours of cognate coursework includes
- University’s Foundational Studies requirements = 19
- and Non-social work department courses = 9
48 Credit hours remaining consist of the University’s Foundational Studies and electives
