ASSESSMENT

blue line General Description

A comprehensive system for collecting and analyzing data on students' academic skills and behavioral performance is an essential component of a tiered, or response to intervention, framework. The assessment system includes:
  • general screenings for all students,
  • ongoing formative assessment and progress monitoring,
  • large-scale assessments, and
  • comprehensive evaluations as needed for individual students.
Comprehensive assessment data are used to inform multiple educational decisions that are made by educators and families.

The CPSP currently offers the following professional development, technical assistance and resources related to assessment:

blue line blue dot Administration of Dynamic Indicators of Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS)

DIBELS is a curriculum based measurement (CBM) tool that can be used to evaluate early literacy skills for all students.

Training in the foundations and administration of DIBELS for benchmarking and progress monitoring purposes is available upon request for K-2 staff and additional school personnel as a full-day training.


blue line blue dot Analysis of Dynamic Indicators of Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS)
Training and facilitated sessions on the analysis of DIBELS benchmark and progress monitoring results is available upon request for K-2 staff and additional personnel as full- or half-day trainings scheduled to coincide with benchmark assessments.

Analysis emphasizes interpreting DIBELS data at the district, school, class, and individual student level to inform instruction and intervention decisions and guide professional development planning.
