Profiles book cover in tan and brown with a drawing of three children down the side Profiles: Individuals with Deaf-Blindness is a monograph based on the etiologies of deafblindness as they appear in the federal classification guidelines. Each etiology listed in those guidelines is discussed using easily understood terms. Some of the etiologies are accompanied by biographical stories. There are fifteen personal stories included in the eight chapter monograph. With each story, personal issues and concerns are shared by these individuals and their families.

Profiles is intended for persons interested in understanding deaf-blindness, as well as those persons providing services to individuals with deafblindness. These individuals may include consumers, families, friends, professionals and community members.
book cover with multicolored brush strokes with the title Creative Expressions Creative Expression: Opportunities for Persons who are Deafblind discusses many of the forms that creativity can take, including painting, drawing, pottery, sculpture, textiles, photos and collages. It provides suggestions on how to assist students who are deafblind in expressing their creativity through these various mediums. It is intended for anyone interested in promoting access to the arts and creative expression in students who are deafblind and who have mulltiple disabilities.

book cover with different shades of teal in concentric circles and yellow text saying Usher Syndrome: Identification and Understanding Usher Syndrome: Identification and Understanding is a multimedia package consisting of a book on Usher Syndrome and Screening, as well as two videotapes. The first videotape, titled Usher Syndrome: Understanding the Diagnosis, provides an overview of the characteristics of the three types of Usher Syndrome. The second tape, Usher Syndrome: Screening for Signs of Risk, presents instructions on how to use three simple screening stations to help identify students who may have Usher Syndrome.

These materials provide enough information to learn about the simple screening techniques involved in identifying those at risk for Usher Syndrome. It can be used by school nurses, teachers, family members or other service providers.

It demonstrates how inclusive practices support opportunities to improve educational outcomes for all students, based upon their individual learning needs. The information in Perspectives is intended to help develop a process for adapting curriculum and instruction in general education settings.

The purpose of this guide is to introduce common misperceptions encountered during transition planning, the components of transition planning, resource information, and transition terms and definitions. This is done by illustrating the transition planning process as applied to two women who returned home to Indiana from out-of-state school placements.
picture of the Helping Young Children with Visual Impairments Make use of their Vision book cover which is blue with text Helping Young Children with Visual Impairments Make Use of Their Vision is intended to help parents understand the role vision plays in the learning process of their child with a severe visual impairment. It offers suggestions about ways children can be helped to make better use of their vision in order to learn.

It is intended for parents of young children seven and under who have a visual impairment, with or without other disabilities. However, much of the information presented can be generally applied to any age individual. Since parents play a critical role in their child's overall development, their assistance in helping the child learn visual skills is of utmost importance.

The information gathered from these tests, evaluations, and assessments may help children make better use of their vision.
