Feature Twirler Auditions

Indiana State University will hold an audition for the feature twirler position starting in the 2007 fall academic year. The position can be held for up to four years and offers a scholarship. The twirler serves a very intricate and visual part of the entire program. Performances includes the Brickyard 400, ISU football games, basketball games, parades, community events, the men's and women's MVC tournament, and professional sporting events.

Minimum Requirements:
- Vertical 4 spins
- Horizontal 3 spins
- Toss illusions (forward and reverse)
- Multiple Baton Combinations
- Advanced understanding of bodywork and dance combinations (kicks, leaps, turns, etc.)
- Field Tricks (toss cartwheel, somersault, walkover, etc.)
Audition Timeline:
Audition Material
- Consisting of a video recording (DVD/VHS) demonstrating twirling abilities and full length routine (2-3 minutes) and completed twirler application. The video should have a clear image and high quality audio of the performance in a DVD or VHS format.
Invitation for in person audition:
Ample time will be given for twirler to make travel arrangements to come to the Indiana State University campus for a live audition.
The audition will be in April. Twirler will receive notice on a time and date to arrive.
The day will consist of two portions: 2-3 minute choreographed routine to pre-recorded music incorporating one, two, or three batons. The routine should be compatible to use on the field. And an interview session. Each applicant will take part in a 10 minute interview at the conclusion of the audition.
Announcement:
The feature twirler will be contacted by phone within a week after the audition. However, the directors reserve the right not to name a feature if none of the applicants meet the criteria.
