The Sparkette Dance Team auditions are held in the spring for the following season.  Once selected they perform at the Brickyard 400, all home football games, any away football games the band attends, many home basketball games, community events, professional sporting events, the MVC tournaments, and many more.  The dance team incorporates many types of choreography, such as hip hop, lyrical, theatrical, jazz, production work, and precision kick line.

Requirements

Dancers must excel in dance techniques such as jumps, leaps, turns, and kicks.  Their performance, physique, and fitness ability must also meet our high standards.  Practices are three hours, three days per week and they are required to attend a technique/conditioning class during the school year.  College credits are also given and students must stay in good academic standing.

Fall Semester

Football season takes place during the fall semester.  The dancers perform with the band.  During a typical game day the dancers can expect to practice in the morning, perform for tailgating, pre-game, half-time, and an occasional post game show.  Also the dancers play a major role in keeping the crowd involved by cheering in the stands.  Homecoming will include some additional performances throughout the week.

Spring Semester

The dance team performs at many of the home men's and women's basketball games.  At the end of the season, they attend the MVC tournaments in St. Louis.  This is also a great time for performances and appearances within the Terre Haute community.
