Indiana State University is excited to be host to the Athenian Council, made up of 3 fraternal organizations, which includes a gender-inclusive literary society, a co-educational honors fraternal organization, and 1 sorority that is a member of the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO). The council organizations work collaboratively to achieve the ideals of democracy, wisdom, and the arts. Each organization oversees their own unique recruitment and intake process, which you can learn more about by directly contacting each organization.

Interested in Joining one of these organizations?

We are thrilled to be working with each of these organizations, and hope that you will consider looking into membership! Each organization hosts their own recruitment/membership intake events throughout the academic year. Typically, organizations will host events and activities during the first few weeks of each semester to promote themselves on campus. Interested individuals should attend those events, learn more about the organization, and meet the current members. If selected for membership, individuals will receive an invitation to join, known as a "bid" and begin a membership education period prior to being inducted/initiated as a full and active member. Please reach out to the individual organizations directly for more information, or join them for their informational meetings or recruitment events.
