Men of Color Summit

MOC

Summit has been postponed until 2017

History has proven and current events have illustrated that it can be hard to prevent how others perceive and define who we are as Black men. This is why the Men of Color Summit was created. The Multicultural Service Program has teamed up with the African American Cultural Center and Office of Student Success to provide a summit that encourages men to work together to fight stereotypical obstacles. We must present a united face so that we may change the world, rather than letting the world change us.

This 2nd Annual Men of Color Summit will promote professional development and overall success for men. We will continue last year’s theme of Embracing the Purpose and Power of Knowledge. This year, we are stressing that you consider what it means to: Reflect-Respect-Respond.

Ask yourself:

1.Do we take enough time to reflect?
2.Why respect others, when you don’t feel respected.
3.How do others expect you to respond?

During the summit, we will provide workshops, tools, and resources. A few of the workshops will be: financial literacy; character building; and defining the significant role a man plays in contributing to their community. This summit will ignite a spirit of pride within the male population on campus and promote valuable skills that will contribute to participants’ personal and professional development.
