Role in College of Technology
  • Coordinate outreach initiatives with secondary, postsecondary, workforce development, and industry partners.
  • Coordinate recruiting and outreach events for the College of Technology, including Tech TREK, College Tech Prep Days, Hands-On High Tech, etc.
  • Plan and implement a variety of activities related to recruiting, retention, advising, articulation, and outreach through Technology Student Services.
  • Serve as College of Technology liaison for collaborative events with ISU Admissions and ISU Career Center.
  • Manage Technology Career Advocates, a group of undergraduate technology students who assist with recruiting and outreach activities and peer mentoring.
  • Advise technology students who have not designated a specific technology major.
  • Direct the Perkins consortium agreement with Ivy Tech Community College of the Wabash Valley.
  • Monitor and report changes and developments in legislation and state initiatives related to career and technical education.

Experience
  • Initiated and implemented a variety of outreach programs for the ISU College of Technology, including Technology Career Advocates, Tech TREK, Hands-On High Tech, College Tech Prep Days, Professional Preparation Program (P3), etc.
  • Facilitated numerous workshops on creative problem solving, leadership development, relationship awareness, School-to-Work, career development, communications, customer service, marketing, etc.
  • Taught several courses for ISU College of Technology utilizing IHETS and web-based instruction.
  • Served on the development team for the ISU Alliance for Servant Leadership.
  • Co-directed the Region 7 School-to-Work initiative in collaboration with Ivy Tech of the Wabash Valley.
  • Developed and facilitated Curriculum Connections workshops for teams of secondary teachers through the Tech Prep Consortium.
  • Served on several advisory boards, including: Wabash Valley Partnership for Progress, Workforce Investment Board Youth Council, ISU Center for Teaching and Learning, ISU American Humanics, ISU Alliance for Servant Leadership, ISU Career Center, United Way of the Wabash Valley, Community Coordinated Childcare.
  • Served as co-director for the ISU gender equity initiative funded through the Indiana Department of Education.
  • Maintained consulting services in communication and media management for Sylvan Learning Center.
  • Assisted with the start-up and initial development of the ISU Center for Teaching and Learning. Worked with advisory committee to develop mission, goals, and promotional materials; procurement of equipment and materials.
  • Served as managing editor for the “Journal of Education for Management Information Systems,” published by Indiana State University School of Business Center for Research and Management Services in cooperation with the International Association of Information Management.
  • Developed and implemented programs for the ISU School of Business Small Business Development Center and Center for Research and Management Services. Programs included the Young Entrepreneur Program; The Forum: Dedicated to Women's Business Development; and For Women, By W.O.M.E.N: A Symposium. Training areas included train the trainer in quality customer service, mass media communication, and small business marketing.
  • Managed promotions for the Terre Haute Tribune-Star.
  • Developed and maintained a home-based business, serving as sales manager for several consultants.
  • Managed promotions for the Indiana University Press.
  • Instructor, workshops for secondary educators throughout the state on "Developing Student Internship Programs," a collaborative School-to-Work project with the Indiana Department of Education, Ball State University, and Indiana State University. The first week-long workshop was held in August 1996 with follow-up sessions offered during school year 1996-97. Additional summer workshops are anticipated, pending funding.
  • Managing editor, Journal of Education for Management Information Systems, published by Indiana State University School of Business Center for Research and Management Services in cooperation with the International Association of Information Management.
  • Communications consultant and media agent, Sylvan Learning Center.
  • Consultant, start-up and initial development of Indiana State University's Center for Teaching and Learning. Worked with advisory committee to develop mission, goals, and promotional materials; procurement of equipment and materials.
  • Adjunct instructor, ITE 276, via Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication Services (IHETS).
