Assistant/Associate Professor, MCT Department Indiana State University

POSITION:  Tenure/Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor for Fall 2006

QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in construction management, engineering, technology, or related field. ABD will be considered. An earned doctorate is required for Tenure. Rank commensurate with education and experience. Evidence of strong communication skills and commitment to service and scholarly activity are required. Preferred Qualifications: Three to five years of recent and relevant U.S. construction management experience and professional licensure in a construction related profession is highly preferred. Preference given to applicants with strong computer skills and the capability to teach in four or more of the following areas:

  1. Materials and Methods
  2. Project Management
  3. Temporary Structures
  4. Mechanical/Electrical Systems
  5. Construction Surveying
  6. Construction Safety
  7. Construction Specifications and Documents
  8. Estimating
  9. Scheduling
  10. Soils and Foundations
  11. Statics & Strength of Materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. a continuing teaching effort of the highest quality, undergraduate with the possibility of graduate
  2. research/scholarly activities
  3. interaction with representatives of the construction industry
  4. advising
  5. service activities.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary range: $55,000 to $70,000; plus fringe benefits.

THE UNIVERSITY: Indiana State University enrolls approximately 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the Colleges of Arts and Science, Business, Education, Health and Human Performance, Nursing, Technology and the School of Graduate Studies. http://www.indstate.edu/. The University is located in Terre Haute, Indiana, which is only one hour from Indianapolis, three hours from Chicago, and has reasonable real estate prices. Terre Haute has an approximate population of 60,000 and four institutions of higher education. http://www.terrehaute.com/.

THE COLLEGE & DEPARTMENT: The College of Technology is located in two facilities including the $18.7 million John T. Myers Advance Technology Center with over 20 state-of-the-art laboratories. The college is composed of six departments offering 16 undergraduate degrees, 5 master's degrees, and the Ph.D. in Technology Management. The MCT department has both Manufacturing and Construction programs. The Construction Management program has on average 150 undergraduate students. The CM Program has a long tradition of placing all graduates in the construction industry. Active student organizations provide opportunities for leadership and fellowship.
